Manchester United want victory over Chelsea in the Community Shield.
United will be out to lay down an early marker against champions Chelsea, who lifted the first silverware of last season by beating United in a shoot-out after a 2-2 draw.
John O’Shea, who skippered United in Dublin, said: "We lost the Shield on penalties last year so, without a doubt, we’ll be out to win it on Sunday, as we always are.
"But more importantly, it’ll be more minutes on the pitch for the World Cup lads and everyone else in getting the fitness levels up for Newcastle."
Assistant manager Mike Phelan also told manutd.com: "Going back to Wembley is an occasion for everybody – supporters as well as players.
"We’ll put a side out that can hopefully do the job, but I think both teams will still be in a recovery phase and getting everybody ready for the start of the season. But it’ll be a good showing, we’ll put out a very good tea
