Chelsea were ready to sign Real Madrid midfielder Kaka before his knee injury revelation last week, it has been revealed.
El Confidencial says Kaka had already initiated talks with Chelsea and was keen to move to London before his knee setback was confirmed in Antwerp.
Sources insist Real and Chelsea had also made contact and talks had opened over a fee for the Brazil international.
The deal was emerging to be the signing of the summer, before Kaka was forced to undergo knee surgery.
